Many people in Ireland are in need of quality, safe and reliable home care. However, so many carers working in Irish communities do not have the proper training, practical skills support or qualifications. So, as part of our mission to improve both the perception, safety and quality of home care in Ireland, Hibernia has established its Hibernia Academy for Care. Much more than an online training course, Hibernia Academy for Care provides a clear pathway to employment for those who have the drive and desire to care for people, but need support to attain the skills.
The training programme consists of two QQI Level 5 Modules:
Care of the Older Person
Care Skills
It also comprises training in practical care skills, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Persons, and Infection Control. Paired with 1 to 1 on-site support and mentorship from the Hibernia Senior Management Team, each participant receives assistance with assignments and coursework to meet the mandatory requirements for working in the sector. Those who complete this training will be supported by Hibernia to complete the remaining six modules needed to achieve QQI Level 5 Major Award – Healthcare Support and develop their Personal Development Plan.
Hibernia Academy for Care is a cornerstone of our commitment to training and education, quality and safety, and realising our vision to transform home care, for good.
