Shift times: 9am - 7pm Monday to Sunday.

Kittcen Assistant
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Function
To assist in the preparation and service of food and in the cleaning of the kitchen and dining area.
Roles and responsibilities
· Assist in the preparation and service of all meals and beverages for residents, visitors and staff to the required company standards of hygiene and economy.
· Assist in the operation of standard cooking equipment such as oven/hobs, boilers, steamers, toasters, choppers etc.
· Report mechanical defects and needs for repair
· Preparation of residents trays and dining areas ensuring that the necessary equipment, utensils and food is available in the required quantities and at the required time.
· Clear and clean kitchen, dining areas and catering utensils using appropriate cleaning techniques and equipment as directed by the Cook.
· Advise residents on menu choice in a way as to give maximum choice.
· Adhere to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety, HACCP and COSHH Regulation at all times meeting all legislative requirements.
· Assists with record keeping as directed by Cook.
· Carry out other duties as directed by Cook/Nurse in charge.
What are the skills and experience needed?
- Experience working in a healthcare environment (with a good knowledge of HIQA standards) preferable
- Awareness of following essential: COSHH Regulation. (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Regulation. (Reporting of incidents, diseases, dangerous occurrences).Health and Safety Legislation.
- Manual Handling to include yearly update
- Excellent communication skills
- Can work independently or part of a team
- Be reliable & keep to schedule
- Fluent level of English both written and oral
