St John of God Dublin Southeast is seeking a dedicated Social Care Worker to join our exceptional team within our Disability Service. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and adults during their most vulnerable moments.
As a Social Care Worker, you will provide support in a residential setting, working alongside a compassionate team of professionals. Your role will involve developing and implementing Care and Placement Plans, advocating for the rights of service users, and promoting their physical, emotional, social, and educational welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to HIQA Standards: Maintain a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards.
- Manage Personal Affairs: Assist with the organisation of personal documents, arrangements, and finances for the individuals in your care.
- Advocate for Service Users: Promote the rights and responsibilities of each person in your care.
- Support Well-Being: Foster the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual welfare of each young person/adult.
- Engage in Activities: Facilitate age-appropriate activities and play.
- Collaborate with Leadership: Report on progress and attend team meetings with the Social Care Leader/Manager.
- Work with Stakeholders: Liaise with families, parents, and other agencies to ensure the well-being of each individual.
- Promote Decision-Making: Encourage service users to actively participate in decisions affecting their lives.
- Ensure Safeguarding: Follow safeguarding protocols and serve as a designated officer where applicable.
- Support Education and Personal Development: Promote on-site education and assist in goal setting for personal growth.
- Stay Informed: Keep up to date with relevant legislation and best practices.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training to further your career.
- Follow Policies: Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain safe, professional practice.
- Develop Care Plans: Contribute to the creation and implementation of Care and Placement Plans with both short- and long-term goals.
Job Requirements:
- Registered with the Social Care Workers Registration Board maintained by CORU
or
- Hold a CORU-approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence required)
or
- Eligible for registration with the Social Care Workers Registration Board maintained by CORU (evidence required)
- Full clean manual driver’s license is essential
